Mountain Dikti

This is the largest mountain range in eastern Crete and it is located on the border of the prefectures of Heraklion and Lasithi. The highest peak is Spathi while the peaks of Afentis Christos and Lazarus come right after. The largest plateau of Crete, the plateau of Lassithi, is situated between the peaks. Here you can see the famous Dikteon Andron Cave and several canyons. In the mountain range of Dikti you will also find the refuge of the Mountaineering Association. There is a wide range of fauna and flora on the mountain and here you can find the famous Dittany herb (Origanum dictamnus).
